Graduate Education Index
We expect our M.A. program in Religion to be in operation by the Fall of 2011. Currently we offer a Graduate Minor in Religion that is available to graduate students in other departments at the University of Illinois. Information about the Graduate Minor is available (in .pdf format) here.
Additionally, the Department of Religion has cooperated in the design and development of a Ph.D. program in Educational Policy Studies. The purpose of this Ph.D. program is to provide educators with a deep understanding of the variety of religious traditions in modern societies, of the ways in which the process of modernization challenges and alters religious beliefs and practices, and the relation between religion and public institutions. It provides an opportunity to study specific religious traditions, the ways in which they influence each other, and the issues raised for public and religious education by a pluralistic religious context. This program will be of interest to educators who are involved with specific religious traditions, public school teachers and administrators concerned with religious issues in the schools, and policy makers and scholars who wish to understand the role of religion in education. Students who wish to pursue this program must apply to the Department of Educational Policy Studies. For additional information about this opportunity, please go to the Educational Policy Studies web site for the program.
