Rini Bhattacharya Mehta is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Comparative Literature and a Visiting Lecturer for Comparative Literature and the Department of Religion. She received her Ph.D. from UIUC in 2005 with a dissertation entitled "Prisoners of History: Bengali Cultural Nationalists and the Hindu Past." Her areas of interest include Postcolonial Theory, Nationalism and Religious Fundamentalism, Globalization, Theories of Popular Culture, and Cinema Studies.
